Importing Rates into Franklin Estimator

It is critical to backup your database before importing rates.

1) Open your Estimator program and click on the green ‘Adjustments’ wrench. In the menu bar at the top of the screen click on File and select ‘Import Franklin Rates…’ (as seen below). This will open up a new window instructing you to ensure that all other users have closed down their Franklin software if there are any.

2) A new window asks you to select the rates file that you would like to import. For 2009, that file is named SRATE092e.few. Find and select this file as shown below and click on OK.

3) This is the final window. To update only the Franklin rates that are on your system, leave all defaults as they are and click on Import. This process only affects the hourly rates. All of your personal settings such as override rates or new press names are still on your system.

4) This screen is also used to import new rates into your software. Some common reasons why you would want to import new rates into your Estimator are:

• A press has been deleted that you now want to bring back.

• The need to add new items not yet in the system.

• The importing of name changes.

If there are new rates that you would like to import proceed to step 5. If you are satisfied with the import, you are finished and may close the import window.

5) Uncheck Only Update Existing Rates.

Warning- at this point all the Franklin rates are highlighted and if you hit import they would be all imported and would overwrite existing rates. Personal settings such as override rates or new press names would be lost.

We strongly recommend that you pick out just the new rates you want imported. This is done by holding the Ctrl key while clicking the desired rate. Once you have your new rates highlighted in blue just click Import.

Once you are done, you are finished and may close the Import Franklin Estimator Rates window.
